Total dedication to a one’s passion – whether it be art, music or wine – results in a final product to be proud of, and Temecula vintners are justifiably proud of their many award winning blends. How to choose a favorite amongst so many worthy challengers vying for the title of top in their class? Each wine is different, a product as unique as is the exact combination of soil, sun exposure, wind, fog, growing techniques, aging and bottling techniques and, of course the grapevines themselves –what stock they came from, their age and the care they receive.  But the greatest influence is certainly that of the winemaker, he will infuse the nectar he produces with his passion. Each wine has its own personality – its own soul – that sets it apart from the rest, so Southern California Zinfandel will have a charm that is only reminiscent of its Northern California cousins. And we can take that premise even further. A Bella Vista Zin will have much – but not all – in common with one from Doffo Wines, or Foote Print Winery or Hart Winery or any of the many, many other fantastic vineyards and wineries that dot the rolling golden hills of the Temecula Valley. So you may need to try quite a few of great contenders to the title of your next favorite wine before choosing a winner!

Luckily it’s easy to taste Temecula’s best either on your own if you feel like taking a daytrip out to the Valley, by booking a weekend or even a bit more at one of Temecula’s great B&Bs or perhaps signing on for an organized wine tour, which is a great way to avoid having to drive home after a full day of barrel samples, sipping sparkling wines and maybe uncorking a bottle at lunch!

Another great way to celebrate Temecula’s best-loved product and discover new faves is to plan ahead and go to one of the area’s great wine events, like the Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival, World of Wine, Grape Day, California Wine Month or the Harvest Celebration!
