Rich was able to further his talent as a artist by following a realistic style, and to do so he drew upon hints of Russian impressionism – an approach he admires for its use of fiery, passionate brush strokes.

Another role model in the art world is Norman Rockwell, who he believes possessed an impressive drawing talent that spanned an lifetime of work and resulted in a very real impact on society.

Rich has also been quoted as saying that he wishes to produce works of art that reflect his soul, as well as develop emotion in those who come in contact with his artistic expression.

The influence of John Singer Sargent, who was known to deliver an entertaining dose of reality with the accuracy of an artist’s touch, can also be observed deeply embedded in Rich’s approach to portrait work
